What is NYSRRC?

Welcome to the web home of the New York State Road Racing Championship. Please feel free to browse this site. Our current points standings are available by clicking on word POINTS above. If you have any questions about the series, how to participate, or anything else, please use the CONTACTS link above, and send an email. Thanks for visiting.

The New York State Road Racing Championship (NYSRRC) is a series of regional races conducted by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Regions in New York State and the surrounding areas. The cumulative points earned at the nine events in this year's series determine the class champion. The purpose of this series is to increase the exposure and the accomplishments of the competitors for greater recognition and visibility. The series also strengthens and helps preserve the SCCA Regional Racing Program in New York State and the surrounding areas.

Preferred Numbers

Participants may file their preferred car numbers with NYSRRC. The registrars will attempt to hold them for those drivers until the late entry date for each NYSRRC event. After that date, car numbers ares assigned based on date of receipt of a valid entry. (NOTE: Since some NYSRRC events will be held in conjunction with other series, such as MARRS, NARRC, or the Kryder Series, some conflicts may arise with reserved numbers. It is highly recommended that participants file the same preferred numbers with each series.)

To register your preferred number, please e-mail Marsha Toombs at numbers@nysrrc.org stating your driver ID (membership number), Last Name, First Name, Region of Record, Class (or Classes), Car Make and Model, and Desired Number.

After the end of a season, preferred numbers may be renewed by sending and email to Marsha Toombs at numbers@nysrrc.org. All numbers that have not been renewed by March 1st of the next season, will be deleted and they can be reserved on a first come first served basis by any driver.

Registration

Registration for the series is not required. However, be aware that it is very important to the pointskeeper that you use consistency when you register for races. Slight changes in your name, or illegible license numbers can cause great stress! Remember, the pointskeeper has to look at ALL the results, from ALL the races, and give you the points you earn. If you use a different name, and the license number is misread or not there, there is no way to verify that that is you, and not some other driver. So, make things easier for pointskeeper, and easier for yourself by using the on-line event registration provided by the organizing region. If for no other reason, there won't be typos! For 2011, this will be either Motorsports reg, or DLB Racing. Links should be available on the NeDiv Website.

Eligibility

Any driver competing at two different race tracks in the same class for three (3) or more of the above weekends will be eligible for year-end points awards. All entrants are eligible for series points provided the NYSRRC sticker is displayed on both sides of the car for that race. Stickers may be obtained at the track (in Tech or from the NYSRRC Steward) or by contacting the series administrator. (Some weekends are double events or have qualifying races, so there may be more than one race during certain weekends. Drivers must compete in three weekends, and not just three races, to be eligible.) Registration is not required. All entrants are eligible for NYSRRC points provided they have met the above requirements.

Points System

All staged races, including qualifying races, will count for points toward the series championship. Points will be awarded as follows: 1st = 20; 2nd = 13; 3rd = 10; 4th = 8; 5th = 6; 6th = 5; 7th = 4; 8th = 3; 9th = 2; 10 = 1; and all other finishers will receive 1 point. In addition to the finishing place points, one (1) additional point will be awarded for each starting car in class you place above. Only the best eight (8) finishes (in terms of points) will be used in determining the series championships. In 2011, there will be 9 points races during the five race weekends.

Eligible Race Classes

All recognized SCCA national classes plus ASR, CF, LEGENDS, SM, SSM, SPO, SPU, and all IT classes will be included in each of the nine weekends. Enduro and ITE are for this series the same class. CF and NCF are also considered the same class for this series. The NEDiv rules for ITE will be in effect. SSM rules will be determined by the sanctioning region. Read the supps!

Awards Banquet

More details about the 2012 banquet will be posted when available.
The NYSRRC Series Class Champions, Top Ten Drivers (the ten competitors accumulating the most points), Best New Driver, Most Improved Driver, and Driver of the Year will be honored at this banquet. There are also several special awards that will be presented. For more information about the awards, click on the 'awards' link above.

Series Stewards

At each of the NYSRRC events there will be a steward familiar with the qualifications, rules, points standings, etc. of the NYSRRC Series. The Steward will be available for your questions or for clarification of the NYSRRC structure. Points will be posted at the event to assist you on your position. In addition, the NYSRRC Steward will function as a Driver Advocate at all NYSRRC races.

Pointskeeper

The Pointskeeper is responsible for your accumulated points. Anything you can do to assist is greatly appreciated. Your points will be calculated from the event's official results. The Pointskeeper will work closely with the Administrator and the Series Stewards to keep all the registered participants informed. Points standings will be posted on the website after each event.

Region Representatives

Each participating SCCA region has a representative on the NYSRRC Committee to assist with the policies and direction of the Series. The representative is your liaison at your meeting in your area. If there is anything you need, feel free to contact your Region's representative.

NYSRRC Officials

All the NYSRRC Officials are working to make the Series valuable and fun for you. Any input from you will be considered and analyzed. We are collectively looking to build on the many years of success this Series has enjoyed and make it more valuable for you, the driver.
